Freemasons believe in an ethical approach to life. Our values are based on integrity, kindness, honesty and fairness. Members are urged to regard the interests of the family as paramount. However, Freemasonry also teaches and practises concern for people, care for the less fortunate and help for those in need.

  • A warm welcome from the Group Chairman,

    Geoffrey M Porter

Welcome to the website for the Wigan Group of Lodges and Chapters in the Province of West Lancashire.

May I thank you for visiting our website and I hope that it will be useful and informative both to Masons and non-Masons who wish to expand their interest in all aspects of Freemasonry.

Our Group is made up of 19 Lodges and 8 Chapters and, at present, has a membership of around 700. We have three meeting places within the Group at Pemberton, Ashton in Makerfield and Hindley.

Freemasonry is well established in this area with our oldest Lodge being well over 220 years old, but although some traditions have been upheld over the years, we are continuing to move with modern times, which is clearly seen here on our new website….
